Grafton Rose
is a federation house built in 1902 by the Thompson family.
At the time of construction it was surrounded by a turkey
farm. Though the turkeys are long gone, the early atmosphere
still exists within Grafton Rose house.
Wander around
the English style cottage gardens, smell the roses and
admire some of Australia's unusual plants, or maybe you
prefer to curl up in the bay window of the library and
read from the extensive range of books dating from the
early 1920's up to the current calendar year - this covers
a wide selection of categories to suit most peoples taste.
Grafton House
has been lovingly restored with antiques and pieces of
art which are continually being added from time to time.
Enjoy the balmy summer evenings on the wide front veranda
or on the back deck. The house is air conditioned for
the summer months and a wood fire burns 24hrs a day during
winter. Enjoy sipping port or your favourite drink while
watching the embers glow in the fire place. Modern facilities
which include television, video, and DvD are available
in the main lounge room, an extensive movie library is
available for your entertainment.
The Home is
disability and wheelchair friendly with a ramp off the
back deck to accommodate wheelchairs - vehicles are able
to drive right up to disembark passengers. |
